Republican Dan Bishop defeated Democrat Dan McCready in Tuesday’s special election in North Carolina’s 9th Congressional District. Bishop’s win was an important one for Republicans in North Carolina and across the country as voters begin to focus on the upcoming 2020 election.
WinRed was proud to work with Bishop, the North Carolina Republican Party, and other key groups to help nationalize this local race by engaging donors and campaigns from across the country. Without those critical donations to Bishop through WinRed, this congressional seat, which was decided by about 2 percentage points, could have fallen into the Democrats’ hands.
So, how did WinRed do it? By focusing a national spotlight on a local race, drawing both attention and critical donor dollars to a special election that otherwise could have been overlooked by Republicans across the country. On the left, ActBlue has nationalized races for Democrats for years – now Republicans have a platform to fight back in a big way.
