How Lindsey Graham helps raise money for Tim Scott

President Joe Biden’s Joint Address to Congress was a big night for Senator Tim Scott who raised over $1 million after he gave the official response for the GOP.

His fellow South Carolina Senator has been helping Senator Scott prepare for his 2022 re-election campaign for months now.  Here is a breakdown of a recent Lindsey Graham email and donation page that we love. It’s a textbook example of how to use WinRed features to raise more money and help the GOP win more races.

The Email

This email is great for a three reasons:

  • The subject line “Tim Scott needs our help” is direct. The recipient knows exactly what to expect and what the email is about.
  • There is a picture of Senator Graham and Senator Scott that frames the whole reason for the email and helps visually show their friendship.
  • The email quickly explains who Senator Scott is and why he needs the donor’s help. Then there is a direct call to action that asks donors, “Will you chip in just $10, $25, or even $50 to support Tim Scott and help Republicans take back the Senate Majority?”

The Page

After donors click through, they end up on this page: https://secure.winred.com/team-graham/rtm-ts-h

There’s three specific things to highlight here:

  • The donations are split. Every donation will benefit both Team Graham as well as Tim Scott, who is up for re-election in 2022. This is the perfect way to help other GOP candidates in their races. We also saw Elise Stefanik use this technique here.

  • There is an upsell to cover processing fees. This is a Slate Upsell that is customized to ask for an additional gift that helps cover processing fees after the initial donation.

  • He ends with a Panel Upsell. This is used to help send support to fellow South Carolina members and other Senators up for re-election in 2022.

Overall, this is a textbook example of how campaigns should be fundraising.  Senator Graham is using WinRed features to continue building his digital fundraising program and helping other Republicans raise money for their own elections ahead of 2022.
